Another "WTF" card--as in "Who's turning forty!"

Hi Everyone...I hope you're having a great day!  A few months ago, I purchased a stamp set by CAS-ual Fridays called "WTF".  I knew I would put it to good use because I have a lot of friends turning the big 4-0 this year.  I certainly am not (cough, cough), but they are--so I'm making some super funny/spunky cards for all my friends of a certain decade.  This one was for my friend Beth.  Check it out:

I actually used two different CAS-ual Friday stamp sets on this card, as the fun graphic shape came from another set.  I love the bright green and pink together, and I hope it brought cheery birthday wishes to my friend.

Have a super duper day!

For the birds....

Hi Everyone!  This year we have noticed a ton of cardinals around our house.  I'm not sure why, as we have not had them in years past, but we are enjoying them.  They do not seem to be as aggressive towards us as some of our other feathered "friends" (I use that term lightly--some of them are so mean!).  Speaking of birds...here's a bird card for you today:

I made this card ages ago and I know I used my Cricut on it, but for the life of me I can't recall what Cartridges.  I'm guessing perhaps 3 Birds on Parade?  I know I decided to use Primas instead of fuss with the flower cuts.  And the stamp is by PTI.  I do remember that much!  *ha*

Hope you're enjoying your day!

Just a little note...

Hey everyone!  What is your favorite color combination?  One of my very favorites is purple and green.  Those colors can be found throughout my house and even on today's card that I'm sharing:

The embossing folder is by SU.  The sentiment is by SP&Company and the flower is a cut from Art Philosophy.  Such a crisp looking card!

Have a super day!

Roses are red....

Hi Everyone!  It's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail and I'm sharing my last project today as a designer for Dr. Phil Scraps.  I have had an absolute blast working with Dr. Phil and cannot express enough gratitude for the chance to work on this amazing design team.  Close To My Heart has a fabulous product line and I thoroughly enjoyed showcasing the various stamps, papers and embellishments over the past few months.  For my last project, I wanted to share two items that really "spoke" to me when I first saw them--the For Always paper pack and the Jardin stamp set.

I made this card with those items:

The patterned papers in the For Always Workshop On The Go are all black and white.  I found them very easy to work with, and so very elegant.  They quickly became a favorite of mine!

All of the stamped images on this card are from Jardin--of course I'd pick a stamp set with a French name as a favorite, right?!   This bow was a stamp that I had not featured on any projects.  I stamped it, colored it with my Copics, then "fussy cut" it out.  I used a little foam tape to pop it up from the rest of the card.

I added a little bit of color to the roses on this main stamp....they are so pretty!  I can stamp any sentiment on the inside of this card and it will pretty much work--roses are so versatile.

This bottom portion needed a little "extra" something, so I added the Paris postal stamp.  Don't be afraid to stamp on top of patterned paper.  It really can add some pizazz to your project, and in this case--added balance to the card.

Once again, a great big THANK YOU to Dr. Phil for this opportunity and to the readers of his blog, Dr. Phil Scraps, for the kind comments you have left me during my time on his design team.  I hope you'll visit me at my blog, Sonya's Paper Trail, as I will continue to showcase a variety of projects using some the of CTMH stamps and papers that I got during my time on the design team.

Have a wonderful, creative day!
Sonya

Thinking of you....

Hey everyone...still using up some old projects to fill blog space this month!  I hope you don't mind...I'm just busy making memories and am too busy to be inside crafting.  I'll be back at it soon, when it gets too hot to be outside!  This is a super easy card to make and features a stamp set by SP&Company called Poppy Field Summer:

It's very subtle....but sometimes subtle can be very effective!

How's your summer going so far?  Fill me in!

Medallion (Clean and Simple)

Hi everyone....I have a super duper clean and simple card to share today.  Check it out:

That giant medallion stamp by Stampin' UP! is one of my favorite stamps ever!  Do you have a "go to" stamp that you'll never part with....this is one of mine!

Have a super day!

Negative cut butterfly birthday....

Hello everyone!  I'm really excited about our weekend plans.  Our local bike race is happening, which means a year of hard work of planning the event becomes reality!  Our city will welcome cyclists from all over the midwest to one of our city parks for our race.  I've spent the last week at various press events.  My nine year old was part of several activities trying to promote youth bicycle racing.  Hopefully he has inspired some other younger kids to give it a try!   I do have a card to share with you today.  I made it for a "negative space" challenge at SP&Company.  Check it out:

I love the super duper CAS look of this card.  I am imagining so many possibilities using negative space cuts.  To make this one, I found a butterfly that I liked in my Silhouette library and put it in the middle of a rectangle that I "drew".  I then added my scrap piece of Echo Park paper behind the opening of the butterfly shape.  I double matted this card, then adhered it to a white card base.  The pennant features a stamp by SP&Company and two small pearls.  I like the blue and gold combination.  Not my usual colors, but they really look nice together.

Wish us nice weather and safe races this weekend!

A Sassy Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!  It's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail and I'm so excited to be a new design team member at She's A Sassy Lady.  Many thanks to Sheila and her team for having me be a part of the team, I'm thrilled to join in the fun!   I thought it would be appropriate to make a super "sassy" card for my first design team post.  This fun card features stamps from a variety of companies:

The main focus is on my super sassy Tess from the SU set "Tote-ally Tess".

She's supposed to be holding stamps and markers and such, but I think that little glass of vino suits her very well.  The wine glass stamp is by Stampin' On The Edge.

When I use this stamp, I always use the paper piecing technique for her pants.  Simply stamp her pants on patterned paper, cut them out, then glue them on your main stamped image.  It adds so much fun to her attire!

There wasn't a lot of room for a sentiment on this card, so I filled a little white space with this birthday sentiment by My Craft Spot.

No card is complete without a very sassy message for the inside greeting!

Thanks for joining us today...have a super day!

Trees....

Hi Everyone...I hope you are having a great day so far!  This is a super busy week for me, as the bike race that I volunteer for happens in a couple of days.  There's lots to do for that, and my crafting time has been a bit slim...so I'm digging into my archives of projects I haven't shared yet.  Today's card may look a bit familiar.  I made six of them at one time and have shared a few already.  Here's the last of that batch:

There's a lot going on paper-wise, but I think it works!  The simple greeting is a stamp by SP&Company.  The tree, if I remember right, was from Art Philosophy.

Wish us luck with the race...hope for good weather and lots of racers!

Birthday Dancer

Hi Everyone....I have a birthday card for a 17 year old girl today.  I rarely get to make cards for a teenage girl, so this was a fun challenge!

She loves modern dance and is really into bright colors.  The dancer image is a cut from the Silhouette Online Store.  The stamped sentiment is by PTI.  And the paper is really, really old DCWV from a mat stack that I bought ages ago.  But it was fun and funky and BRIGHT!  Perfect for this card.  I added a few colored pearls to the points of the medallion shaped, too.  I hope the birthday girl likes her special card!
